A club in Singapore with approx 100 stables split between private livery and riding school is recruiting an Equestrian Manager/Chief Riding Instructor. The Equestrian Manager will be directly responsible for the performance of the Riding School providing daily lessons and schooling of the horses. The main aim is to grow and develop riding in this section with improved revenue and profit as the outcome. The Equestrian Manager is also expected to advise and assist livery members with their own horses on a variety of matters from horse welfare to appropriate training programs particularly with young and/or difficult horses. Qualities and Characteristics. The applicant needs to be highly motivated, have good leadership qualities and be able to make sound decisions readily. A high level of organization for self and others is important. Experience in working and managing an equestrian facility is essential as are appropriate qualifications in riding and teaching for both disciplines of dressage and show jumping. A sound knowledge in general horsemanship is expected and some experience in running horse competitions would be beneficial. A reasonable knowledge of computer programs and profit and loss budgets is required. Strong communication skills in English as well as a sympathetic understanding of working in a multi-cultural environment are necessary. The position requires a re-location to Singapore and a minimum 2 year contract. A competitive remuneration package is being offered. The Agence Pompadour offers two sales auctions during the Mondial du Lion d’Angers, which will take place on October 15th to 18th. A set of 50 horses aged 3 to 6 years old, specialized in Eventing will be drafted during a selection tour in France on June and July. Nevertheless, they will have to show real qualities for competition in the other Olympic horse disciplines. The horses have to have blood, showing, quality and good pace and an out going easiness. Designed to fit professionals and amateur riders, the horses will be fitting riders’ national and international aims. The French Breds will be put forward, particularly Anglo-Arabian breeds with the support of the ANAA. Horses will be shown every day and sold at the end of the day in a brand new arena. Last 5th December, the committee of redaction of the well-known magazine, L’EPERON, organised the annual Man of the year award ceremony. Nicolas TOUZAINT, eventing rider, was rewarded as the Man of the year, evidence through his prize list (Champion of France, of Europe, winner at Compiègne, Pau, Fontainebleau, Martinvaast, le RIDE, Pratoni, Saumur….). Beside the champion, we have the other nominated of 2007. A nice reward for Alain BENTAHA (Conseil régional des Pays de la Loire), Eric GIRAULT and Jean-Yves CAMENEN (UNIC), for their action for the promotion of the French equine industry in China (in the trade category). Jean-Yves Camenen, UNIC director, went to Azerbaïdjan on the invitation of M Mahmud NARIDOGLU, businessman, who has the project to develop cooperation affairs in France. This person got in touch with UNIC thanks to M Alexandre TROUBETZKOÏ, manager of the Mission Economique of Baku. In order to understand the demand and the expectations of M Naridoglu, visits where organised in his equestrian centre in Baku and breeding centre. We also visit a modern racetrack, which is nearly finish, situated closed to the international airport of Baku.
